The Artist: Terrell Dom
Terrell Dom exemplifies a new kind of Pop-Precisionism by combining the structured, clean lines of Precisionism with the vibrant, rebellious iconography of the cryptoart revolution. Dom’s work comment on crypto culture in the context of our post fiat capitalism landscape.
The Collection: Evil in Color
Evil in Color is a collection of 17 accessible editions that submerge you into the underbelly of crypto culture. The despair of the owner watching their crashed lambo on fire, the three gambled addled personalities sitting at the table and the lone skull sipping whiskey by the moonlight. Through Dom’s sharp lines and wit, we see into the shroud of darkness that permeates the edges of the blockchain.
A Specific Artwork: The Getaway
The rooftop of a tropic island is the outline of the scene where the deal is going down. The Dobermann looks directly towards the viewer, possessed and ears ready for the slightest foul move. The Air Jordan wearing skeleton is ready to run at a moments notice. The three characters revved up in rouge give off a waiting game vibe. Either the deal is coming in… or it’s about to go out. The main ‘Heaven State’ character is determining the deal as we watch, the 80s style phone a hint that the getaway may be near Miami.
Yet the aesthetic and bon vive feels closely aligns to Hockney’s 1967 ‘A Bigger Splash’, renovated and relocated to America for the crypto generation.
