This is the first article of MintFace – a place where you can discover new artwork minted during the week, artists with potential that are new to the digital artwork marketplace and fresh NFT sales worth noting.

We are focussed on artists with verifiable provenance who create art for a reason. MintFace will share each artists origin story and why they create to help you decide whether to add a work to your digital collection.

Ok… here we go!

MintFace Artist Feature – Kris Graves

Kris Graves creates landscapes and portraits to preserve memory and to elevate the representation of people of color in the fine arts. Kris has already minted over 70 works and sold out his What is Black series last week.

What Is Black (OpenSea) is a collaboration between the Kris Graves, Ghetto Benny, and an anonymous model. What I loved about Kris’ approach to sharing his digital artwork and he put the 25 color portraits on OpenSea and the video What Is Black (Foundation) was minted on the curated art marketplace, Foundation and recently sold for 3 Eth.

MintFace Sale Feature – Claudia Pawlak

Claudia Pawlak shows her photography work on the Ephimera marketplace designed specifically for lens-based artists. Claudia shoots with a Hasselblad 503cx camera amongst others and recently sold ‘Time After Time’ for 0.50 Eth. This was her 11th sale on the Ephimera marketplace.

Claudia Pawlak is a photographer (Ephimera) currently residing in Toronto, Ontario. She uses photography as a means of preserving emotional response evoked from the spaces around her. Claudia’s work aims to create a personal narrative connecting her relationship with people and place. She has exhibited work in both group shows and solo shows on a local and international scale. Claudia holds an M.A. in Arts Management and Leadership as well as a B.F.A. in Photography Studies.

MintFace Artwork Feature

Collectible cars drawn by Alfred Swahn. Two weeks after the launch of each car, the remaining ones left for sale get burned. The Ferrari 355 managed to get minted 22 times before the digital garage caught fire and burned the remaining 78.

The latest digital car in the garage is an Aston Martin Vantage with 100 minted for sale. Owning a car also gets you an invite to an exclusive lounge on Discord called The Garage.

Alfred Swahn is 20 years old hailing from a small town in Sweden called Borås known for its rich history in fashion and textiles, with a recent deep adoption for all forms of art.

Alfred paints because he’s afraid to pass without leaving a legacy.

“I’m not afraid of death and I realize that I can pass at any moment, however, I am afraid of passing without there being a legacy of stuff that I’ve created that can live on for longer than I myself might. So whether it’s the paintings, music, or a blog, I always want to create to make sure that my legacy after my passing can have a longer life.”

Why Digital Art

“Growing up the internet has always been my life, and I can’t spend more than a day or two without it. NFT’s made sense to me since I always have a computer around and not art supplies and since people now can own and collect art thanks to NTFS I figured I wanted to throw my gloves in the ring. Just like everybody else, I make mistakes (and I  make a lot of them!), so having CTRL + Z as an option through digital art has been a saving grace.”

If this article has made you curious about getting started with digital art, we also run the Digital Artist Economy workshop helping artists create their first digital art through a three week programme. Share it with an artist you’d like to see on an NFT marketplace.
