My Soulwax has brought a confidence to their style, by experimenting with the new possibilities that NFTs present to photographers. Releasing a photograph into the public domain on the purchase of the photograph NFT token is something many photographers hesitate to do. Not My Soulwax.
‘Soul Circle‘ is the third of the 17 photographs minted on Foundation that will be released into the public domain upon purchase of the NFT by a collector.
“When reached this Onion Seeds field, it felt like a place from another world
Its seems so divine to me, like taken out of fantasy book, where the gods seed and grow our souls.” says My Soulwax.
My Soulwax has previously successfully released ‘Full Round of the Sun‘ into the public domain by tying the moment of copyright release to the purchase of the ‘Full Round of the Sun‘ NFT.
As soon as @Punk4636 successfully settled the auction on November 6th 2021 at 1:30pm, anyone in the world could use the photograph with no restrictions, no attribution, no waiver, confident that the artist will take no action against anyone for using the photograph in any way they choose. Nine suns released at once. My Soulwax was paid 2.5 eth for releasing their art for all of us to enjoy without constraint.
‘Full Round of the Sun – was created in order to celebrate the sun and show how many different looks it hold and how important it us in our life – sometimes taking as granted because always there in the same ours, the sun is what we own our life to’ says My Soulwax.
Three days earlier on September 25th 2021, My Soulwax minted a derivated of Cath Simards photograph ‘Free Hawaii’ confident that with a CC0 licence, there were no restrictions including creating and selling a digitally colour shifted derivative of her famous photograph.
“What Cath Simard did with her releasing the rights for “Free Hawaii” piece to the public need to remind as all that the end art is for the greater benefit of the public/community and not to be kept for yourself. And as such, the amount received from selling this piece will be invested fully back into the photography community by supporting emerging artists.” says My Soulwax.
Artists get to choose with every artwork what rights to transfer to the NFT buyer. ‘The Thoughts Hunter‘ and ‘Loneliness – Rage‘ were both successfully sold as NFTs, while the copyrights remain with My Soulwax. Retaining copyright is default in the world of NFT art and ensures art is protected from being adapted or commercially onsold by collectors. The overarching principle of Web 3.0 is the artist gets to decide and if no decision is made, the artist automatically retains all copyright.
Ok one more. Soul Plantation art was freed to the world thanks to the acquisition by @Punk6529 for the 6529 Museum.
‘When reached this Onion Seeds field, it felt like a place from another world
Its seems so divine to me, like taken out of fantasy book, where the gods seed and grow our souls.’ says My Soulwax.
